Memorial Day in Vegas anyone? The girls, Jenny, Aunt Mary, Ong Ngoai (Jenny’s dad) and Ba Ngoai (Jenny’s mom) headed to Vegas for a long weekend. The girls had a blast as we explored the more kid-friendly areas of Vegas while the rest of our family enjoyed the adult entertainment.

2804 days ago I met the love of my life at a sushi restaurant in Houston. We talked all night long about life, travels, adventure, work and there wasn’t a single lull in the conversation. Somehow, I convinced her to see me again, and again, and again…
Within six months, we were engaged and then married 612 days from that first date. Life has never been the same and adventures are still going strong. Today, we celebrate our six year anniversary! Jenny has given me our two beautiful daughters, a great life surrounded by family, a best friend who makes me better, laughter, love and so much more.

Kate and Sophie love playing together, so we organized a joint birthday party for the girls. Together with their friends, the parents and family, we packed eighty people into Wonderwild in The Woodlands. Everyone seemed to have a great time catching air on the kangaroo jumper, dropping out of the crocodile slide and climbing through the playscape.
Happy birthday Kate and Sophie. You’re really growing up quickly. I cannot believe Kate is four and Sophie is now two. It’s amazing to see our girls grow up so fast. Kate is adding numbers, sounding words and excelling in school. Sophie is starting to talk in sentences and is almost potty trained. Both girls are in gymnastics, ballet, swim lessons, music and art classes.
A special thanks to grandma for the tasty cupcakes, to Uncle John for the pictures, to Holly & Vi for helping the girls run the gauntlet and to Ong Ngoai & Ba Ngoai for the delicious after-party dinner.

Merry Christmas!
We hope everyone had an eventful, relaxing and fun holiday. From our house, 2013 has been a great year and we have much for which to be thankful. 
The girls woke up at the usual time on Christmas and were ready to go open presents. Our house is usually filled with guests on holidays, but our out-of-towners are coming this weekend. So, Jenny, Kate, Sophie and I had a relaxing morning opening gifts and hanging out. The girls had a great time and received lots of great gifts. Thanks to everyone to who sent/brought gifts.
This year, the girls found themselves with an entirely new kitchen set from Pottery Barn, pots and pans, hundreds of pieces of toy food, place setting and so much more. They’ve been planning non-stop with their toys. I’m pretty confident Jenny and I will soon be invited to a Kate & Sophie tea and food party. Speaking of parties, we’re about to have 20 friends and family over for turkey, steak and lobster. Sound good? RSVP for next year’s feast.

It seems like just yesterday when Sophie took her first steps. Now, she has been dancing at Boni’s Dance and Performing Arts Studio for a few months now.
At her age, the hour long class is broken up into 30 minutes of dance and 30 minutes of play.
She really likes her dance class and follows directions really well. Plus, she looks really cute in her pink leotard and leather ballet shoes. [Read more…]
Every week, Kate takes music lessons at Music by Mary. This holiday season, the kids are singing in a concert at The Village at The Woodlands Waterway (Senior Residence on Grogans Mill Road). Kate did great and I’ve embedded a video below. I hope you enjoy.
Kate and Sophie dance ballet at Boni’s Dance and Performing Arts Studio. As a great holiday treat, Kate (and her troupe) performed two short dances for the parental crowd. As one proud parent (that would be me) proclaimed, “what grace, what fluidity, what precision… it is a masterpiece!”
As we get older (and have kids), it’s inevitable that friendship gets test by time, distance and life. If we’re lucky, distance and time doesn’t rob the friendship, but strengthens it with life experience. We’re fortunate to be friends with Aaron, Amy, Sophie and Thomas Whitesel. It’s been years since we seen them, so they jumped aboard a airplane and came to play. This was the first time Kate and Sophie got to meet their new friends Sophie and Thomas.

For years, Jenny and I have taken the kind of elaborate vacations that make your return to work seem relaxing. This year, we resolved to correct that trend and found a beautifully relaxing beach front escape for our family. We took the girls and Jenny, Ba Ngoai, Ong Ngoai, Auntie Mary – sadly Grandma had to take a rain ticket!
We rented a big vacation house at 57 Blackwater Street, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 and all bunked up together. Each family member took turns cooking, we road bikes to/from the beach, toured the local shops and simply enjoyed a little time away from work, cell phones and life.
