2013 Spring Vacation – Aquarium of the Pacific

AquariumPacific-16Our girls love fish… Throw in some cute little birds they can feed, penguins and acreage to run around and you’ve got the making of a great outing. We love the Aquarium of the Pacific — big enough to see diversity, but small enough that our girls leave with remaining energy. Today, Kate got to feed tons of little Lorikeets in the 3,200-square-foot Lorikeet Forest. On our way in, we bought cups of nectar and the birds happily fly over and drink while standing on your arm, the fence or wherever they can to get the sweet drink. Kate held a few cups while Sophie watched in amazement – I think she wanted to grab one!

Kate’s Daily Trip To My Office

_MG_7231Everyday, before and after school, the girls stop by my home office to say hi or bye. It competes with Jenny’s arrival home as my favorite part of the day. Today, Kate just needed to talk. Not about anything special, but she asked me to accompany her to the patio outside, “Daddy, follow me…” I did and quickly realized it was a beautiful day. I asked her why she wore her hate and she explained, “Because I’m taking you out side.” We sat for a few minutes and talked about her day. Of course, I grabbed my camera to memorialize one of our first father-daughter chats. Thank goodness, she wasn’t telling me about some new boyfriend.

February’s Park Trips

February2013ParkTrip_25While the rest of the country is freezing and buried under snow, February is perfect for trips to the park. Throw on a jacket and you can play for hours without freezing or breaking a sweat. Sophie turned one last month and Kate just turned three! We load the girls in a wagon and make the short walk down the street to our community park.

Happy 3rd Birthday Kate

Kate3rdBday-2We invited all of Kate’s schoolmates, our friends and family to a little party at Zunan (kid-friendly restaurant & playhouse) in The Woodlands. Kate had a blast and Sophie loved the attention of all the mommy’s who played and tickled her. Auntie spent at least 20 minutes helping Sophie play on the slide while Kate chased her classmates and climbed the rock walls and played video games.

Sophia Tuyen Pozadzides’ Baptism

Sophia_Baptism-16Today, we celebrated Sophie’s baptism at our church, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, TX. Uncle John (Godfather) and Aunt Mary (Godmother) came as witnesses along with many of our close friends and family. Sophie did great with only a few tears.

Afterwards, we hosted a party at our house with face-painting, balloon-making professional and more than enough food to feed those gathered. Most importantly, this was a great day for Sophie and our family. We were honored to have our closest loved ones in attendance.

Aunt Mary’s Photoshoot

VuPhotoShoot_1Aunt Mary’s excellent Christmas present this year was my favorite: pictures! Some people collect baseball cards, movies, songs and other stuff — I collect pictures. So, we now have some great snapshots of our girls, Ba Ngoai (Jenny’s mom) Ong Ngoai (Jenny’s dad) and Aunt Mary.

PS: The girls love Aunt Mary. She’s fun and her eye for fashion keeps our girls looking runway ready!

2012 Xmas

_MG_5545Merry Christmas. Our girls aren’t old enough to wake us early to open presents. Sadly, they are young enough to simply wake us early! So, on this beautiful Christmas morning, Jenny and I witnessed the shear excitement our children gleam from ripping open gift wrap. I’m not sure they even care about the gifts inside, but they certainly love the opening process.

Our friends and family overdid it this year too. Kate and Sophie have more books, animals, toys to chew on, some to ride, others that play music and a few that require assembly. Here are some pictures of our morning: [Read more…]

2012 Thanksgiving Dinner

2012 Thanksgiving Meal-10Ok, what you’re about to see may seem odd. It might make you hungry! And, if you like to eat, you might consider showing up with Jenny and I hope a party. This year, we’re cooking for about 40 friends and family members. I’m pretty sure everyone left full and we’ve not heard any reports of gastric distress.

On this year’s menu, we’re having cajun turkey, lobster, brisket, stuffing, gravy, mac-n-cheese, corn, springrolls, sweet potatoes, potato salad, carrots, fried rice, rolls, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, cheesecake, and cherry pie.

Pre-Thanksgiving Family Time

2013_PreThanksgiving-8Jenny, Kate, Sophie and I are really lucky to have our entire family so close. With Thanksgiving just one week away, a few family members just couldn’t stay away. Today, we woke up with a full house including Dad, Tilda, John, Holly and Vi. We always have a blast when everyone comes as the family divides into teams to keep our girls attention. There was swinging, baking, bouncing, computer games, cooking, playing and lots of hugs and kisses.
