Greece – Start in Athens

May 27, 2009 By Kirk Pozadzides Leave a Comment

Athens-23Jenny and I started our tour of Greece in Athens. While there are other points of entry, any trip to Greece requires at least two days to see the tremendous history, architecture, panoramas, artifacts and more. Here is my personal list of the places you must see while in Athens:

  • The Acropolis and the Parthenon
  • National Archaeological Museum
  • Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon
  • Piraeus – The Port
  • Syntagma Square
  • The Plaka
  • The Agora and the Temple of Hephaestus
  • Dozens of beautiful Orthodox Churches…

Here are some pictures detailing just some of the gems located in Athens: [Read more…]

Dancing At The Wedding Party

Wedding Dance Party-73Jenny and I left the party around 11:30, but we later learned that it kept going for hours. I guess hosting a event with an open bar, music that doesn’t stop and a dance floor tends to prolong the party.

At some point during the dancing, we paused for me to find that ever-elusive garter belt. Once found and distributed, Jenny and I say our good byes.

Oh, and if you were on that dance floor, there’s a good chance you’re in one of the pictures below. While our wedding photographer flaked out of us shortly after we left, he did manage to snap a few funny ones. Young and old, there were moves from several decades and lots of smiles.

Here is the incriminating evidence. Enjoy: [Read more…]

Reception Pictures At Our Guests’ Tables

Wedding Guest Pics-40We all had a blast! Jenny, our extended families, hundreds of our friends and I spent a great evening together celebrating our marriage.

Jenny, her parents, Lisa (the made of honor), John (best man) and I visited each table to welcome our guests. Following Vietnamese tradition, each table selected a host to offer congratulations and good wishes. Customarily, the table toasts the bride and groom with cognac, wine or other tasty adult drinks. Needless to say, after visiting thirty two tables, Jenny and I were paying much attention to our sore feet.

Here are the pictures of our table-visiting adventures: [Read more…]

Kirk’s Wedding Prep

Kirk Wedding Prep-4A big thanks to John, Justin, Kevin & Shawn for keeping me company on my wedding day and participating in the most important day of my life. As the hours approach, the gang and I spent time reminiscing about old times and sharing advice on what to do (and not to do) to make marriage work.

It’s great having John here. He’s seen every major accomplishment in my wife and “marrying up” is definitely one of them – I’ve found such an amazing, multi-talented and loving woman in Jenny. Also, I’ve know Justin, Kevin and Shawn since college and we’ve shared some amazing adventures and the typical roller coaster of events that is college and post-college life. Leave it to Justin to show up with nerve-calming beverages. Interestingly enough, I’ve always heard about how nervous some people get before the wedding. Maybe getting married a bit older helps, but I’ve never felt more sure and right about a big decision before. I knew she was the one on our first date, so today is just the validation of that little nugget of knowledge.

Here are a few snapshots of my life few hours of bachelorhood: [Read more…]

Our Wedding Cakes

February 2, 2008 By Kirk Pozadzides Leave a Comment

Wedding Cakes-9We had amazing cakes for our wedding!

Jenny’s cake was a 5-layer french white cake with white fondant frosting, layers of fresh strawberries throughout and baked to feed three hundred people. The groom’s cake (that’s me) was a chocolate cake with chocolate fondant frosting and layers of fresh raspberries. Note: My cake was shaped as his and her suitcases with luggage tags all over highlighting the places we’ve been together.

Sadly, we didn’t even get to enjoy the cakes! In between greeting our guests, dancing and just being together, the night ended without more than bite we had while cutting the cake. Thankfully, we tried samples before the wedding and they were delicious. Everyone we’ve talked to since has commented on how fresh and tasty these french-style cakes were.

Here are some pictures to remember these tasty delights: [Read more…]

Wedding Party Photoshoot-42After the wedding and family photos, the wedding party (Lisa , Theresa, Annie, Kamayani, John, Justin, Kevin, Shawn and Jenny and I headed out for a relaxing photoshoot – more laughing and playing than posing and fake smiles.

Between the limo ride, the bottles of champagne and a few laughs, we made stops in Uptown and at the Renaissance Hotel for pictures. Looking at the photos, I’m sure you can tell that we’ve all been friends for along time.

Here are a few photos of the wedding party: [Read more…]
