Normally, I wouldn’t include my rants for bad service, but today is different.
After Hurricane Ike, our roof was damaged and a friend referred Pro Titan Roofing to repair our house. Their representative seemed trustworthy and knowledgeable (considering I’ve make a living as a sales professional, I consider myself a pretty good character judge).
I was wrong… What I failed to remember was simple: an honest sales professional unknowingly selling crappy service will flood your house. Pro Roofing did a bad job and our house was flooded again after the first rain of spring. Unfortunately, it took a windy storm to reveal bad work.
Can you spot the difference between before and after linked to below?
- Original Damage
- 3/15 Damage
If your roof is damaged and you’re looking for a good company in Houston, DO NOT HIRE PRO ROOFING.
Note: We have a really high pitched roof. Normally, I would have visually inspected their work, but its just not safe for non-professionals to climb onto the roof. I am sure this factored into Pro Roofing‘s job.
If you’re interested in reading their response, I’ve included them below pictures of our roof after the first rain shower in Houston.

Kirk,
I have reviewed everything and looked at all the pictures, spoke to my crew leader and Russ. We were contracted to repair the missing and damaged shingles on your home caused by the damage from Ike. We successfully completed our obligation to that contract. The contract that you signed also stated that there was “No warranty given or Implied”. However, we did come out to your home and have done additional work to additional areas to your roof. That was done for free. When we spoke , I told you that wind damaged shingle sometimes takes months, sometimes longer to show up. I suspect that was what happened and therefore Pro Roofing can’t be held responsible.
As for the interior, We cannot be held responsible for that either.

I have uploaded before (Hurricane Ike) and after (last weekend) pictures of my roof to Picasa online so you can view the entire collection. Moreover, I have attached a .pdf document that compares two key areas on my roof that Pro Roof was hired to fix. Today Russ claimed the newly repair section was unaffected and that my internal water damage was caused by the areas Pro Roofing did not fix. This is wrong! As you will see from my comparison, Pro Roofing’s installation must have been faulty since the area affected is exactly where the new shingles were installed.
Here are two links to the original damage and new damage. I have not included pictures of my internal damage, but those will be following.
- Original Damage
- 3/15 Damage
Ultimately, Pro Roofing needs to fix my roof, ensure it is watertight and repair my water-damaged room. Today, the internal damage is not that bad, but left unchecked this will get worse. I need Pro Roof to step up and correctly repair my house!

Ugh! That’s so frustrating! When our roof was damaged in Jeanne, we hired an inspector to check it out before paying the final balance (and made sure that it was written into the contract that we were going to do that), and the inspector found quite a few things that they had to do.
We had a much larger issue more recently with a General Contractor who screwed us royally! He also came recommended from a friend (which makes things even more frustrating, I think. It makes you feel like they specifically screwed you over for a reason when the other person had a good experience with them). We’re out a lot of money from the situation (and had a few liens), but because he knew how to get around the laws, it seems there’s nothing we can do about it.
Sorry you’re having to deal with that! I bet with the damage being from Ike you could go after him with the law though. Don’t they have laws against taking advantage of people who receive “acts of nature” damage? Check into it with your local police or sheriff’s department.
Sorry to hear you had similar issues. I have a few attorney friends and they’ve suggested I consider taking Pro Roofing to Small Claims Court. But, who has time for this!?
